Paul Pierce believes that the Oklahoma City Thunder might be the most “disrepected” top seed in Western Conference history.
He is impressed by the team and especially its lead star, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
With that being said, he still thinks the Dallas Mavericks will beat them in the second round.
Speaking on “Undisputed,” Pierce said that the impact of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving cannot be overstated and they could lead the Mavericks to victory.
Plus, he hasn’t seen enough of the Thunder in the playoffs to have faith in their ability to beat Dallas.

Although the Thunder just beat the New Orleans Pelicans with ease in the opening round, that was without New Orleans’ biggest star, Zion Williamson.
They are now about to play against a fully healthy Mavericks team that has perhaps the best backcourt in the entire league.
Their lack of playoff experience has some people questioning Oklahoma City’s ability to move to the Western Conference Finals.
Then again, Pierce admits that too many people are writing them off and underestimating them so there is a chance they could surprise him and overcome the odds.
At the same time, the Mavericks have been playing like a well-oiled machine lately and have a lot more experience in the postseason.
They will not be an easy team to overcome and they will put up way more of a fight than New Orleans did.
Both of these teams have a lot to prove and have been proving it.
But there can only be one winner and right now, Pierce thinks that Dallas has the advantage.
Game 1 of this series is scheduled for Tuesday night and all NBA fans will be paying close attention.
