For years, people have talked about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown being the heart and soul of the Boston Celtics, and rightfully so.
However, having them at the forefront hasn’t always worked out when things have mattered the most.
That’s why GM Brad Stevens made sure to pair them with a proven veteran, trading for Jrue Holiday as soon as he became available.
The former NBA champion fit in Boston like a glove, and he’s taken his game to a whole new level in the playoffs, and particularly in the NBA Finals.
That’s why former Celtics great Paul Pierce wanted to give him his flowers, stating that he’s outplaying Kyrie Irving right now.
Talking on Undisputed, Pierce broke down just how difficult it is to do what Holiday is doing, as he’s playing elite defense and locking Kyrie Irving up on one end of the floor and then putting up big scoring numbers as well.

Notably, Kyrie talked some smack ahead of the series, and he even claimed that he thought the TD Garden would be louder after Game 1.
He’s not known for choking or not rising to the occasion, but he’s left plenty to be desired through the first two games of the series.
Now, it’ll be up to Kyrie to rise to the occasion and demonstrate that he’s not the kind of player one could lock up for more than a handful of games.
