Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes continues to take the baseball world by storm and has become must-watch television after just two starts in the majors.
In his second start yesterday against the Chicago Cubs, Skenes hurled six hitless innings with 11 strikeouts and just one walk en route to his first career victory, a dominant outing that he described in typical Skenes fashion after the game.
In his on-field postgame interview, he was asked to describe what he did in this game, to which he simply replied, “Yeah, it was cool,” (via Platinum Ke’Bryan on Twitter).

This lines up with what we know about Skenes so far, as he appears to be as cool as they come and doesn’t get rattled by the moment but also expects greatness from himself.
Throwing six hitless innings isn’t something that should surprise him or anyone who has ever watched him, as his dominant fastball and slider combination should immediately make him one of the toughest pitchers to face in recent memory.
It’s not the most exciting answer, but perhaps Skenes will be doing most of his talking on the mound.
Skenes struck out the first seven hitters he faced in this game and it was encouraging to see the team allow him to work up to 100 pitches after handling him with kid gloves throughout the minors and in his first professional start.
His next projected start is on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants, which will be his first against someone other than the Cubs, who have to be glad to finally be done with this guy for a while.
