Daniel Theis has spent one season with the Los Angeles Clippers but that will be the only year he plays for the team.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Theis has agreed to a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Before Theis can unpack his bags in New Orleans, he will first help his German national team in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

During his sole season with the Clippers, Theis averaged 6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds.

He only started in three games during the season and was on the floor for an average of 17.1 minutes.

The Clippers didn’t rely on Theis as a starter but he will still leave a big void in their roster.

As for the Pelicans, he will give them a huge assist, especially because New Orleans has been eager to add another big man to their lineup after the loss of Jonas Valanciunas.

It was recently reported that the Pelicans want either Jarrett Allen or Wendell Carter Jr. but will the addition of Theis eliminate the need for either of those two?

The Pelicans have already made one substantial trade so far, acquiring Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks.

Theis probably won’t be the last move they make and they will likely attempt a few more during the offseason.

The 32-year-old big man could make Pelicans fans even more excited in the weeks ahead if he is able to help Germany make some noise in the Olympics.

Is there a chance he will come to New Orleans as a newly-crowned Olympic gold medalist?
