Pelicans Veteran Opens Up On His Confidence This Season

The New Orleans Pelicans have looked great early in the season.

Willie Green’s team has won four of their five contests thus far, with their only loss coming against the likes of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Needless to say, CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson have stolen most of the headlines in the Big Easy, but with the latter sitting out to rest on the second night of a back-to-back, it was up to Herb Jones to pick up the slack at the power forward position vs. the Detroit Pistons, and he was up to the task.

Jones put up 21 points with five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and four blocks on 6-of-7 shooting, with his only miss coming from beyond the three-point line.

When asked about his offensive explosion and defensive clinic, the veteran forward claimed that he just felt confident out there and tried to keep that intensity going throughout the course of the whole game.

“I feel confident throughout the entire game.”

The Pelicans have looked more cohesive on defense this season, and the fact that they’ve been able to win games without Brandon Ingram — and now also without Zion — is quite encouraging.

It’s still early in the season, but this team has already knocked on the door of postseason contention way too many times.

This might be the season they finally take a leap forward, and if Zion is able to stay healthy and play most of the games — which is obviously a big IF — they could make some serious noise out of the Western Conference.
