Penny Hardaway is a basketball icon and, therefore, his opinions about the NBA are greatly valued.

He was recently asked by CQ Sports on Instagram about this all-time starting five for the league and his selections shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Hardaway chose himself, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.

Hardaway was smart to select these players because they are clearly several of the best to ever play the game.

Unsurprisingly, Hardaway also played against all of these people.

He was in the league from 1993 until 2008 and played for the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and, finally, the Miami Heat.

His career average was 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5 assists during his 14 years in the NBA.

He chose O’Neal as one of the staters in this five-man lineup, which also isn’t surprising because they played together with the Magic and have been close friends ever since.

He also performed alongside O’Neal years later when they were both with the Heat.

Everyone else on this list was competition during Hardaway’s lengthy career.

This is the ultimate question to ask former and current NBA stars.

Choosing an all-time starting five is a way to show knowledge about the league, player skills, and NBA history.

Since retiring from the league, Hardaway has spent his time promoting sports and coaching.

He has been the head coach of the Memphis Tigers since 2018, which means he is still deeply tied to the world of basketball.

That makes his all-time starting five even more credible.
