Just a couple of days away from the draft now, pundits are starting to fire off their predictions for what will happen in the first round on Thursday night.
Peter Schrager appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” Tuesday and gave insight to what may happen on Thursday night.
“J.J. McCarthy is going to be the fourth quarterback taken. That’s what I think…I would say a quarterback is very much in play for the Denver Broncos in the first round of this draft,” Schrager said.

If McCarthy is to be the fourth quarterback taken, that means Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye would most likely be the first three to go.
Now, the question is where they would all go.
Williams would go to the Bears at No. 1 overall, Daniels would go to the Commanders at No. 2 overall, and Maye would go to the Patriots at No. 3 overall.
Or, maybe a new team trades up to select one of these talented prospects.
Then, there is the next wave of quarterbacks in McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., and Bo Nix.
Teams like the Raiders, Broncos, and Vikings are each sitting outside the top 10 in need of a new signal-caller.
Look for these three teams to most likely be matched up with those three prospects in some form.
With McCarthy specifically, as Schrager illustrates, perhaps the Broncos will want him even after trading for Zach Wilson.
It will now be interesting to see if Denver or any other team decides to be patient and wait for a player like McCarthy.
Or, will they get aggressive and trade up for a better prospect?
