After years of disappointment under owner Daniel Snyder, the Washington Commanders are moving on with new owner Josh Harris and his group leading the way, and the team may have made a significant stride to becoming a force to be reckoned with in the NFC as a result of their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Although the Commanders would’ve loved to get their hands on quarterback Caleb Williams, Washington had to wait its turn while the Chicago Bears brought in the former USC superstar with the No. 1 overall pick.
But it still had the opportunity grab a potential franchise player at No. 2 overall.
Ultimately, the Commanders decided to draft Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, a solid pick who has been impressive during training camp and the NFL preseason.
Daniels has turned so many heads over the course of the past couple of months that Peter Schrager of “Good Morning Football” said he believes the LSU product will be the top breakout player of the upcoming season.
“The No. 1 breakout player for 2024 will be Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels,” Schrager said. “This dude is made up of everything you would want in a franchise quarterback, and he is well ahead of schedule.”

Even though Daniels has yet to play a down that counts in the NFL, the buzz seems to be for real about his potential to become a bonafide superstar, as there’s been nothing but high praise leading up to the regular season.
Only time will tell if Daniels can help the Commanders become relevant again in the NFC.
