The 2023 NFL Draft is just a couple of weeks away, and the jury is still out on one of the highest-ranked QB prospects we’ve seen in years.
Months ago, Bryce Young looked like a sure thing to go first overall on April 27, but that’s no longer the case.
Scouts and executives are concerned about his lack of size and muscle and how that could translate to a full NFL season with pro defenders going at him on every single snap.
Nonetheless, Young’s instincts and football IQ are just too good to overlook, which is why he’s either one or two in most NFL mock drafts, even despite all the concerns.
Notably, Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning also had plenty of praise for Young.
In a recent clip from an NFL Draft show featuring the Manning brothers, Peyton claimed that he actually sees a lot of Joe Burrow in Young.

He claimed that even though he doesn’t know whether Young will be as successful as quickly as Burrow was, the instincts, decision-making, and ability to extend plays are quite similar between the two.
Burrow has often drawn praise for his ability to operate in the pocket, keeping plays alive, making defenders miss, and holding onto the ball until a guy gets open.
Young has been praised for virtually the same things, and it’s not like he would be the first short QB in NFL history by any means.
So, it’ll be interesting to see where he falls come April 27.
