Phil Simms Reveals His Honest Thoughts About Daniel Jones

When Eli Manning left the New York Giants, many people thought the team was in good hands with Daniel Jones.

Jones possessed a rushing upside that Manning didn’t, and he seemed to be the right quarterback to take over the reins of this team.

After a few rough seasons, Jones put it all together in 2022, leading the Giants to a 9-7-1 record, which was good enough for a playoff berth.

The Giants even won a playoff game that year, upsetting the Minnesota Vikings.

After seeing what Jones could do, the Giants responded by signing him to a four-year contract extension, one that many believe the team regrets.

Jones took a step backward in production last year, even before his injury.

The team was 1-5 under Jones’ leadership, and for whatever reason, they were unable to recapture the magic they found in the prior season.

Now that Jones is looking healthy, some people expected him to bounce back in a big way and lead the Giants back to the playoffs in 2024.

However, after seeing his performance in their recent playoff game, Phil Simms isn’t so sure.

Simms recently talked about Jones on the Simms Complete podcast, highlighting what he saw from Jones in that game.

“When it didn’t happen early, I thought, wow, this is really a tough situation,” Simms said.

Simms tried to do the best he could during the broadcast, but it was seemingly difficult for him to stay positive.

With Simms’ comments in mind, it could be another tough season for Jones and the Giants.
