Last season, it was Juan Soto who won the Home Run Derby.

The then-Washington Nationals slugger barely edged out Julio Rodriguez in the final round.

Now a member of the San Diego Padres, Soto did not participate in this year’s Home Run Derby.

But that didn’t mean the defending champion wasn’t still going to enjoy it.

Soto is one of two Padres All-Stars and was in attendance last night at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

While he was on the sidelines watching everything unfold, Soto made sure to film Rodriguez hitting in his home ballpark.

On Twitter, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN posted a photo of Soto filming Rodriguez’s at-bat.

Soto certainly was enjoying the derby this year.

Last year, he got to experience the glory that comes with winning the derby.

This year was much different, as Soto did not take part.

But that didn’t mean he wasn’t still enjoying it.

This season, he got a chance to experience the derby from more of a fan’s perspective.

Both perspectives of the derby are likely very enjoyable, but in the past two years, Soto has gotten the best of both worlds, experiencing the derby from multiple angles.

The winner of the derby this year was none other than Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero defeated Mookie Betts, Rodriguez, and later Randy Arozarena.

Soto still remains the champion from the 2022 derby at Dodger Stadium.

Though he didn’t compete this year, he still found a way to have some fun and enjoy it as a fan.
