The Pittsburgh Pirates have been one of the major surprises of the MLB season.

No one thought they would be contending for an NL Central title in June.

Yet, they sit in first place in the division with a 34-30 record.

One of the many reasons for their success has been the emergence of a few of their young players.

Most notably, third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes is finally coming into his own.

According to MLB Now, Hayes has been on a tear over the past 10 games, hitting .476.

Over his last 10 games, Hayes has been hitting for more power.

He has seven extra-base hits and an OPS of over 1.200.

Hayes was once considered a top prospect in baseball and he is finally coming into his own.

On the season he is batting .261 with four home runs, 28 RBI, four triples, and seven stolen bases.

This is the first time in Hayes’ three full seasons that he is showing a little bit of power.

Hayes has been one player on a large list of Pirates that have stepped up this year.

Bryan Reynolds is once again having a good season, as is starting pitcher Mitch Keller.

Keller is similar to Hayes as he was a top prospect that has struggled in the big leagues before this year.

But Keller has been awesome this year as he has carried the Pirates pitching staff.

Sometimes you just need your best players to play to the top of their potential.

It seems like the Pirates are getting that this year.
