It’s the dawn of a new era for the Detroit Pistons.

Troy Weaver is no longer in town, and new decision-maker Trajan Langdon has already made a big splash.

For starters, he didn’t hesitate to pull the plug on Monty Williams, even though he was still owed dozens of millions.

Now, he’s officially started restructuring his roster, and that includes making some tough decisions.

According to a report by Mike Scotto of HoopsHype, the Pistons have decided not to tender a qualifying offer for James Wiseman.

The Pistons won’t tender James Wiseman a qualifying offer, sources told @hoopshype. The 23-year-old center, the No. 2 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, becomes an unrestricted free agent. That means the former No. 2 pick will now become an unrestricted free agent.

Wiseman played a career-high 63 games last season, averaging 7.1 points and 5.3 boards per game in roughly over 17 minutes a game last year, playing behind a budding star like Jalen Duren.

The former Golden State Warriors player has struggled to find his footing in the league.

Once considered to be an elite prospect, Wiseman’s development was severely hampered by a suspension in his first year in college and then a season-ending injury in his rookie campaign.

He has all the physical tools to be a presence on both ends of the floor, but he has an old-school kind of game for today’s pace-and-space NBA basketball.

The Warriors pretty much gave up on him just a couple of years into his career, but the situation in Detroit wasn’t ideal for him either.

There’s still a chance that the other team will make him an offer and give him another opportunity to get his career going, but he’s been one of the most disappointing top-three picks in recent times.
