There are many NBA coaches who are beloved and celebrated by players throughout the Association.
And then there are others who are known as successful but difficult men to work for.
Tom Thibodeau is in the latter category and that is why so many NBA players would not like to be coached by him.
According to KnicksMuse, the New York Knicks coach was selected by 46.8% of players as the coach they would least like to play for in a poll run by The Athletic.
He ranked ahead of Doc Rivers of the Milwaukee Bucks with 9.1%, Monty Williams of the Detroit Pistons with 6.5%, and Darvin Ham of the Los Angeles Lakers with 5.2%.
For the third straight year, Tom Thibodeau was voted the #1 coach that players would LEAST like to play for.

Over the years, Thibodeau has been known as a tough enforcer of his rules and plans.
He doesn’t answer to anybody and he expects a lot out of his team.
That might be the reason why so many players don’t want him to be their leader.
With that being said, the Knicks are doing better than they have in years and Thibodeau is a massive part of their success.
So as tough as he is, he is delivering results.
As for Rivers, Williams, and Ham, they have all earned reputations as coaches who let their teams fall apart when it’s most important.
Rivers is now trying to guide the Bucks through a very tough period without Giannis Antetokounmpo, Williams’ Pistons are in awful shape, and Ham’s Lakers just lost Game 1 of their opening round series against the Denver Nuggets.
Thibodeau might be number-one on this list but his team is definitely doing the best right now.
If Thibodeau’s Knicks go very far in the playoffs then more NBA stars might think twice about their resistance to playing under him.
