Due to their massive layoffs, ESPN’s NBA coverage has been quite different over the past couple of years.
From Keyshawn Johnson, Jalen Rose, and Max Kellerman being out of the network to Jeff Van Gundy not being a part of the broadcast anymore, this musical chairs game has left some fans dissatisfied.
That might not change any time soon, as former NBA player Tim Legler might be off the network next season.
According to Awful Announcing, his contract with ESPN is set to expire, which is why Scott Van Pelt went out of his way to shower him with praise, calling out the bosses and letting them know that he deserves plenty of money and opportunities to keep doing his thing (via NBA Central).

Van Pelt addressed Legler’s future on Monday night’s edition of SportsCenter, and it didn’t take long before that clip went viral.
Legler had signed a three-year contract extension in 2021.
He’s been with the network since 2000, and he’s been one of the most respected analysts in the game for 24 years now, making regular appearances on SportsCenter, Get Up, First Take, and even calling some games.
ESPN has turned to a different approach over the past couple of years, favoring debates and hot takes over actual analysis and reporting, which is why it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the former shooting guard heading out the door.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case, but even if it is, it shouldn’t take long before he finds a new home to spread his knowledge, input, and passion for the game of basketball.
