The Atlanta Falcons are looking to put an end to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ dominance in the NFC South Division.
They know they have to make a big splash right out of the gate and demonstrate that they can compete and win at the highest level as well.
And while there are high expectations for their offense and rightfully so, as they might finally unleash their true potential after years of conservative and subpar play, their defense is actually expected to set the tone now that Raheem Morris is calling the shots.
That’s why the team didn’t hesitate to make the most of Matthew Judon’s situation with the New England Patriots, trading a third-round pick to get him.
When asked what he liked about his new addition, the first-year head coach told Kay Adams that he thinks he has ‘a swag and a chirp to him’ (Via Up & Adams).

That’s Matthew Judon right there.
He’s a physical force, and the kind of player who will never be outworked or outhustled.
His physicality is only topped by his effort, and he’s the kind of guy who can set the tone for a defense looking to make a name for itself.
The Falcons revamped their already impressive defense with two veterans like Judon and Justin Simmons.
Judon gives them another pass-rusher, which was their biggest flaw entering the offseason, so, at least on paper, we could be looking at a legitimate dark horse to sneak their way deep into the playoffs in 2024.
