Many hours after the final buzzer sounded on the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday night, the Las Vegas Raiders sent shockwaves throughout the league by announcing that the team had fired head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.
Team owner Mark Davis had been adamant about not parting ways with McDaniels, as he appeared willing to give the head coach more time to turn things around in Las Vegas.
However, things seemed to get progressively worse for the Raiders, with superstar wide receiver Davante Adams becoming increasingly frustrated and the team seemingly taking two steps back rather than a giant leap forward this season.
It appears that the loss to the Detroit Lions on the main stage of Monday Night Football proved to be enough for Davis to finally pull the plug, as he’s made some drastic changes and has named Antonio Pierce the new interim head coach, who already sounds more like a Raider than McDaniels ever did, via Yahoo Sports.

Much like when Rich Bisaccia took over after Jon Gruden was fired a couple of years ago, Pierce will have the opportunity to show the franchise and the rest of the league that he’s worthy of being a head coach in the NFL, with nine games left on the regular-season schedule for the Raiders.
Pierce will have his hands full trying to turn this thing around in Las Vegas, but if he can get his players to rally around him as Bisaccia did, he’ll have a chance to make it happen, as the NFL playoffs aren’t out of the question for this storied franchise.
