With this being the last weekend of preseason football in the NFL, the league has begun handing out suspensions for players who have violated its personal conduct policy.
Along with veteran wide receiver Zay Jones of the division-rival Arizona Cardinals, who was suspended for five games, the Los Angeles Rams also have a player who was assessed a suspension.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, offensive lineman Alaric Jackson will have to wait until Sept. 16 before he can be reinstated by the league, meaning he’ll miss the first two games of the 2024 NFL season for the Rams, which are on the road against the Detroit Lions and Cardinals.

As the Rams’ starting left tackle, this is a significant blow for the team and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford to start the season, as they will likely turn to backup AJ Acuri to handle the load to open the regular season.
With the Rams sharing the NFC West division with the reigning conference champion San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles can’t get off to a bad start to the 2024 campaign, especially with a divisional game against the Cardinals as one of the two games Jackson will miss.
It’ll be an interesting season, to say the least, for the Rams as they move on without superstar Aaron Donald, who retired during the offseason, and hope they can get another solid season out of Stafford, who isn’t getting any younger and will turn 37 in February.
