After a forgettable 2022 NFL season, no one really knew what to expect from the Los Angeles Rams last season, as some believed the team might be headed in the wrong direction, especially with superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald hinting at retirement.
Even though the Rams flamed out in the NFL playoffs, Los Angeles played much better than expected last season, as head coach Sean McVay had one of the best performances of his career up to this point.
Heading into the 2024 NFL season, the Rams will no longer have Donald leading the way defensively as he did retire, feeling it was time to walk away from the game while he was still one of the best players in the league.
With the Rams sharing the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers, it is never an easy task for the team to make some noise and compete with the best of the best, but McVay and company seem confident they can do just that.
According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, heading into the next preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers, McVay has decided to hand the clipboard and headset over to assistant head coach Aubrey Pleasant to get some game-day reps.
Assistant head coach Aubrey Pleasant will be the head coach of the Rams on Saturday, said Sean McVay – who wanted Pleasant to get the game day reps in the role and who will spend some time up in the broadcast booth for the game.

Although this is an interesting and potentially questionable move by McVay, the veteran head coach seems confident that Pleasant can get the job done and will gain something from the experience.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the Rams during the 2024 campaign and whether they can make it back to the playoffs with a chance of going the distance again.
