Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss is one of the greatest Minnesota Vikings players in history.

So naturally, when a big season is on the horizon for the team after they drafted rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy in the first round of April’s NFL Draft, he is going to be asked about it.

In Moss’s recent appearance on Up & Adams, he was asked about McCarthy possibly starting as a rookie.

“I don’t care if he’s not ready he needs to be out there,” Moss stated.

.@RandyMoss on whether or not no. 10 overall pick J.J. McCarthy should start Week 1…

The only way that a player can get better is with experience.

McCarthy was a fine college player at Michigan and they won a national title.

However, he never threw for over 3,000 yards in his two seasons as the starter in Ann Arbor.

He also never threw for more than 22 touchdowns in a season.

Yes, Michigan was a great running team that liked to be physical.

But what is going to happen when Kevin O’Connell needs McCarthy to throw the ball 40 times in a game?

What happens when Justin Jefferson needs the ball?

Will McCarthy be able to deliver through the air in the biggest moments?

Perhaps the best course of action can be to let veteran Sam Darnold start the first four or five weeks.

Let McCarthy get up to speed and feel more comfortable in the offense before taking the field.
