Nick Nurse’s history of success with the Toronto Raptors might be one for the ages.

He went from being a relatively unknown coach taking over for a former COY in Dwane Casey, to leading the franchise to their first-ever NBA Finals appearance and NBA championship.

He also managed to survive Kawhi Leonard’s departure and kept the team in contention, developing multiple role players into All-Star caliber pieces.

But all good things eventually come to an end, and the word around the league for most of the season is that Nurse has already outstayed his welcome up north.

Now, Raptors Insider Doug Smith claims that his future might be in the Western Conference, more specifically with the Houston Rockets.

Smith points out the fact that Nurse has some ties with Houston from his days in the G League, and Gersson Rosas’ arrival with the Rockets could open the door for him.

It’s not a secret that the Rockets aren’t satisfied with Stephen Silas’ coaching — or lack thereof, and not even the players seem to be on board with their coach.

Nurse has a well-documented history of developing young talents, so he’d be a perfect fit for a Rockets team reeking of talent but with the little-to-no notion of improvement or team basketball whatsoever.

As for the Raptors, Smith states that they could consider hiring Ime Udoka, who’s close to President Masai Ujiri and could be back in business after one year on the shelf for his off-court scandal and subsequent suspension and dismissal.
