The Baltimore Ravens will rest for the first week of the playoffs after they secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC, and could get back one of their most important offensive contributors at some point this postseason.
The team designated veteran tight end Mark Andrews to return from injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, after he suffered what appeared to be a season-ending ankle injury in Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Andrews underwent surgery on November 22 but left the door open for a possible return if the Ravens made a deep playoff run.
So while it’s less likely Andrews can return for next weekend’s Divisional matchup, there is a chance he could return for the AFC title game or the Super Bowl.
Andrews was one of quarterback Lamar Jackson’s most important pass catchers this season – especially in the red zone.
But while the injury hurt the Ravens on paper, Baltimore didn’t skip a beat without him.
Backup tight end Isaiah Likely filled in nicely for Andrews, as did the Ravens’ trio of wide receivers in Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Odell Beckham Jr.
Baltimore won its next five games without Andrews to lock up the No. 1 seed in the playoffs before the Ravens sat their starters for their Week 18 clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Getting Andrews back on the practice field is the first step in his recovery and potential return to the field.
Now, it’s on the Ravens to keep winning to open up the pathway for Andrews to rejoin the team on its quest for a Super Bowl.
