After enjoying the benefit of having a first-round bye in the NFL playoffs, the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens will get back to work this weekend when Lamar Jackson and company play host to the upstart Houston Texans at M&T Bank Stadium.
With the Ravens having an extra week to get healthy and evaluate their roster ahead of their first playoff game this year, Baltimore has made some changes, with the team bringing in veteran running back Dalvin Cook and activating star tight end Mark Andrews.
Not only did the Ravens get some extra time in order to get healthy and prepared for the Texans, but the team was able to improve it’s roster, which is a scary thought, considering the squad was already the best in the league.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, one move the team has made ahead of the playoff clash with the Texans is waiving veteran running back Melvin Gordon.

With two running backs being placed on injured reserve over the course of the season, with J.K. Dobbins and Keaton Mitchell being done for the year, the team has seen Gus Edwards play well as the lead back while also getting some production out of Justice Hill.
As an insurance policy, the team brought in Cook, who recently asked the New York Jets to release him after the team was eliminated from playoff contention in the AFC.
Even though Cook had a forgettable season with the Jets, he’s the ideal addition for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations and is looking more and more like the best team in the league.
