The Baltimore Ravens just can’t catch a break with their cornerbacks.
They addressed their never-ending issues at the position in the NFL Draft, and, once again, they’re struggling with injuries there.
To add insult to injury — literally — this time, they lost the most impressive player on the field during their 16-13 preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
As reported by Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, rookie CB Nate Wiggins will now undergo an MRI after leaving the game favoring his right shoulder.
First-round pick Nate Wiggins was the standout for the Ravens in an otherwise nondescript preseason opener. Then, Wiggins went to the locker room favoring his right shoulder.
A few weeks ago, CB may have been team’s deepest position. That will be tested.https://t.co/C0E6nuGivj

Wiggins was spectacular in limited action, logging three pass breakups against Kenny Pickett on his first drive as an Eagle, including one to force a turnover on downs.
He was pretty close to logging a pick on the very next drive, showcasing just why several scouts were so high on him coming out of Clemson.
Then, he extended his right arm a little too much to try and stop RB Lew Nichols, and he was in clear discomfort.
He left the field to get inside the blue medical tent before entering the locker room and not returning to the game.
The Ravens have veterans Marlon Humphrey and Arthur Maulet as the likely starters, but they will definitely find ways to get Wiggins on the field even if he’s not starting.
Once again, given the way things have fared for them in training camp and the many injuries they’ve had at the position, the Ravens might find themselves in scramble mode to field cornerbacks.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case.
