The NFL season has officially reached a pivotal point.
Teams are starting to cut players, a dream-crushing time for hundreds of athletes.
While they have gotten opportunities over the past several weeks, perhaps years, getting cut can be a devastating feeling.
After all, they got so close to achieving their goal of making an NFL roster, only to just fall short.
The Baltimore Ravens just cut a prospective backup quarterback option in Emory Jones, per Jeff Zrebiec.

It is difficult for a team like the Ravens to roster many quarterbacks given Lamar Jackson’s brilliance.
Jackson, of course, is a two-time league MVP winner, and he is viewed as one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC.
Even with his injury history in mind, at most, the Ravens will roster three quarterbacks, and there didn’t appear to be room for Jones.
On their latest unofficial depth chart, Jackson is QB1, followed by Josh Johnson and Devin Leary.
Johnson has plenty of NFL experience, and he is a journeyman at this point in his career.
He might not have what it takes to lead a team for an entire season, but the Ravens can trust that, if Jackson goes down, Johnson can do what’s needed in the interim.
It remains to be seen if Leary will make the roster, but with Jones being waived, he has a shot to stick around as QB3 on the depth chart.
Leary showed some promise in college, and his upside makes him an intriguing option on this team.
