Boston Red Sox slugger Adam Duvall had a case for MLB’s hottest player in the first few days of the 2023 season.
He had a big influence in most of the Red Sox’s five wins in the season, and also did his best to prevent their four losses.
Unfortunately, the injury bug bit him on Monday.
He will now be out for a while after fracturing his wrist.

It’s a crushing blow for the Red Sox’s offense and the team as a whole.
The player actually suffered the injury on Sunday.
In the series finale against the Tigers, he attempted to make a catch in center field.
The outcome of that play will surely haunt the Sox for several weeks.
To add to the bad news, it’s Duvall’s left wrist, the one he underwent season-ending surgery on last year.
Duvall, an offseason acquisition by Boston, was slashing an incredible .455/.514/1.030 with four homers and 14 RBI in his first eight games.
The team will now be forced to use Rob Refsnyder more.
He is starting in his place in center field on Monday.
The Red Sox have also called up Bobby Dalbec to take Duvall’s spot on the roster.
The Red Sox will need every contribution they can get if they want to make the postseason, so losing the team’s most in-form hitter definitely hurts.
He should be able to return this season, though, although wrist injuries are known to impact power on occasion.
Let’s hope Duvall has a smooth and speedy recovery and can return to help Boston in 2023.
