Ever since the San Francisco 49ers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, there’s been a lot of speculation swirling around the league about the team’s intentions with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is up for a contract extension.

It seems as though the team and Aiyuk aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on a new deal, which has prompted a lot of rumors in the Bay Area and the 49ers potentially flirting with the idea of trading the rising star at some point during the NFL offseason.

Obviously, one of the best nights of the year to trade a player is during the NFL Draft, when teams are in wheel-and-deal mode and willing to make big moves to upgrade their rosters.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the 49ers are actively having trade discussions involving Aiyuk and/or Deebo Samuel, which could potentially put San Francisco in the top 10 of the first round of the draft on Thursday night.

The 49ers have had conversations with teams, including with one picking in the top 10, about trading either of their prized wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel in an effort to move up in the first round, per sources.

It’s interesting that Samuel’s name was mentioned as well, as there’s a chance that teams might be showing more interest in the proven star rather than Aiyuk, who is still on the rise and might not have the same success if he switches teams.

It’ll be interesting to see how realistic these trade rumors are and whether the 49ers decide to make a move during the first round of the draft and if that means they’ll be targeting one of the top wideouts in the draft like Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, or Rome Odunze.
