The start of the 2024 NFL season is only a few weeks away for the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers, but it appears the storied franchise isn’t any closer to getting things resolved with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who wants to be traded because the team won’t agree to his contract demands.
Although it has seemed as though a trade with another team might come to fruition over the past few days, Aiyuk remains in San Francisco, and the 49ers brass appears to keep shooting down trade packages.
Earlier this week, the New England Patriots dropped out of the running to acquire Aiyuk in a blockbuster trade, leaving only the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers to battle it out to see who can give San Francisco the best trade offer.
Apparently, the 49ers front office isn’t liking the offers they’ve been getting from the Steelers, who want to upgrade their receiving corps after investing in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at quarterback via 95.7 The Game.
“The 49ers, to this point, haven’t been satisfied with the Steelers’ offers and would like a receiver in return for Aiyuk as part of a trade, although they are open to players at other positions, league sources said.”

At this point, there’s no telling what will happen with the Aiyuk trade saga in the Bay Area or whether the team will be able to agree to terms on a new deal for elite left tackle Trent Williams.
Things are definitely up in the air for the 49ers right now, which isn’t a great look heading into the upcoming NFL season.
