The 2023-2024 NBA Season ended sooner for the Los Angeles Lakers than they expected.
Despite making it into the playoffs after a dominant play-in-game performance, the Lakers fell to the Denver Nuggets in the first round in five games.
After seeing the team’s collapse, especially with LeBron James and Anthony Davis still on the roster, many are suggesting that the team will make major changes heading into the 2024-2025 season.
One of those changes is a potential new coach.
As Dave McMenamin discussed on the Dan Patrick Show, J.J. Redick is currently being looked at to replace Darvin Ham.

Ham was a highly regarded coach when he began his tenure with the team, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
Lakers fans are frustrated with the team’s lack of success in recent seasons, and someone like Redick could be the spark plug they are looking for.
James’ future with the team is also unknown, but if a veteran like Redick is brought in, he could stick around and see what he can do as head coach.
The Lakers are one of the most historic franchises in the NBA, and they have high standards for themselves.
It will be interesting to see how they fare moving forward, especially if they start the 2024-2025 season with a revamped roster and a new head coach.
The Western Conference was less of a runaway than it has been in past years, and it was a lot closer of a race than the East was this year.
With that in mind, the Lakers could find themselves in a good position to contend next year, assuming they make necessary positive changes.
