The Philadelphia 76ers are now out of the playoffs, which means they have more time to focus on the future and make plans for next season.

According to Brian Windhorst, via NBACentral, the 76ers are keeping their eyes on Jimmy Butler and his situation with the Miami Heat.

Apparently, Butler, who played with the 76ers in 2018-19, is one of the main targets Philadelphia is thinking about pursuing.

Windhorst said that Paul George is the top prize that the Sixers are seeking.

He thinks they will offer George a max contract in free agency but will also monitor Butler’s situation in Miami.

They will also keep tabs on Brandon Ingram too.

Next season will be the final guaranteed season in Butler’s current contract with the Heat.

But coming off of their disappointing run in the playoffs, the Heat might not be willing to work with Butler and give him a new deal that he deems worth his time and talent.

If he is unsatisfied with what he’s hearing from the team’s front office, he may elect to move to another team.

The 76ers could be waiting in the wings and ready to give him a good deal, and a chance at a championship.

Butler is going to be 35 years old in just a few months and is experiencing more injuries, so there is a chance that any offer from the 76ers might not be as high as he wants.

He will have to weigh his options: remain in Miami or try his hand with a different franchise before retirement?

Butler has said he wants to retire as a member of the Heat but will he change his mind this summer when multiple teams are trying to sign him?
