The Chicago Bulls are on the verge of a rebuild, meaning they have no more use for DeMar DeRozan.

The former All-Star can still be a major contributor to a playoff-caliber team, but the Bulls aren’t even close to that at the moment.

With that in mind, the Sacramento Kings could look to lure him back to his home state, making him their starting shooting guard for years to come.

Of course, the Kings will need the Bulls to play ball with them and do a sign-and-trade to facilitate this transaction, but they could need a third team to enter the scene as well.

That won’t be much of a problem.

According to a report by NBA insider Marc Stein, the San Antonio Spurs are emerging as a third team that would gladly help facilitate this operation (Via NBA Central).

The Spurs were reportedly interested in bringing back DeRozan, but even with Chris Paul’s addition and Victor Wembanyama’s projected ascent, they’re not a playoff-bound team just yet.

The Kings want to make a big splash and add another scoring threat next to De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, and Domantas Sabonis, and a recent report stated that the Bulls coveted Kevin Huerter.

Chicago held onto DeRozan for way longer than they should’ve.

They could’ve found him a trade suitor last season and perhaps gotten better value in return for his services.

Still, it’s better late than ever, and if they can at least get a player or even a couple of second-round picks for him, that’s obviously better than getting nothing in return.
