The San Francisco 49ers took a chance on Brock Purdy with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Not many “Mr. Irrelevants” ever have a chance to make an impact on the team, let alone become the starting quarterback for one of the biggest powerhouses in the game.

But even if Purdy wasn’t a highly-coveted player by most scouts, he did gauge some league-wide interest among some teams.

As a matter of fact, Kevin Seifert of ESPN recently reported that the Minnesota Vikings were quite high on him and wanted to sign him as an undrafted free agent before the Niners got in the way (via Dov Kleiman).

Apparently, Purdy was also considering the Houston Texans as a potential option if the Niners didn’t pick him.

Purdy had some interesting numbers in college, but wasn’t a superstar by any means.

He took the league by storm as a starter for the Niners, beating Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance, and Sam Darnold for the starting QB job after being more of an afterthought.

And while some doubt him and believe he’s nothing more than a system quarterback, he’s led the Niners’ offense to a whole new level.

Now, the Vikings will try and stop him and hand him another loss on Monday Night Football, but that’s going to be an uphill battle, even without star WR Deebo Samuel.
