One of the biggest questions about the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason was this: how much would they give Austin Reaves with his contract extension?

It was very clear that they wanted Reaves to stick around for the foreseeable future.

He had two very strong seasons with the team and also was a huge help during the playoffs.

Some fans were worried that another team would offer him a huge payday and steal him away.

Apparently, the San Antonio Spurs were thinking about it.

According to Jovan Buha, via NBACentral, the Spurs considered offering Reaves a contract worth $100 million over four years before he re-signed with the Lakers.

This was the maximum that the Spurs would have been allowed to offer Reaves.

They apparently also considered giving him a shorter, three-year, $60 million contract too.

In the end, Reaves signed with the Lakers for a four-year, $54 million contract.

Since he was a restricted free agent, LA would have had a chance to match any deal that came his way from the Spurs or another team.

In the end, it looks like there was never much of a chance of Reaves leaving the only team he’s ever played for.

And he has sounded happy about that.

He has made no secret of his desire to keep playing alongside LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the Lakers core.

That is great news for fans of the team, who have taken a strong liking to the young guard.

Reaves has produced 10.2 points from 50.1% from the field during his first two years in LA and has shown tremendous signs of growth.

What will he do in the next four years?
