The Philadelphia Eagles entered the season as the team to beat in the NFC, and last year’s trip to the Super Bowl was no fluke at all.
But they didn’t look as sharp as usual in their season opener vs. the New England Patriots, especially on the offensive side of the field.
Perhaps that had something to do with the usual offseason rust, or perhaps it was due to Shane Steichen’s departure to become the Indianapolis Colts’ head coach.
Whatever the case, their running game wasn’t as proficient as it used to be.
That’s why insider Eliot Shorr-Parks believes they should strongly consider revisiting a trade for Colts Pro-Bowl RB Jonathan Taylor once he’s ready to be back from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
If the #Eagles are actually going to go with a clear RB1 and not a committee than they need to revisit the Jonathan Taylor situation in Indianapolis once he comes off the PUP

The Eagles usually use a running-back-by-committee approach, but they relied heavily upon Kenneth Gainwell in the season opener, giving him 14 carries while Boston Scott and D’Andre Swift had one each.
They also have former Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny on their depth chart, but none of their current options would be better than Taylor, who led the league in rushing yards just two seasons ago.
Of course, Howie Roseman will also have to decide whether he’s willing to pay Taylor the amount of money he’s looking for in his contract extension.
But if the Eagles want to continue stacking up talent and being the biggest powerhouse in the NFC, they should definitely consider making a run for the disgruntled Colts star.
