Few people were surprised when Bronny James was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.

This followed months of speculation about James playing alongside his father, LeBron.

However, according to James’ agent Rich Paul, there were multiple teams looking to sign the young star.

Speaking to Pat McAfee, Paul said there were “several teams that had interest in Bronny but you have the calls and you talk about it.”

Paul also spoke briefly about the rumors stating that he told teams to resist drafting James so he could play for the Lakers.

Unsurprisingly, he didn’t confirm nor deny that claim.

Paul also said he believes James is already a great defensive player and his offensive skills will improve over time.

He thinks that big things are ahead for the young rookie.

Right before the draft, James looked like a very promising prospect.

After a rather lackluster year in college, James did some impressive things during the NBA combine and became the talk of the basketball world.

However, it was always assumed that the Lakers had the advantage to get James and that he would likely play in Los Angeles.

On draft night, Paul allegedly told other teams that James would play in Australia if any team aside from the Lakers signed him.

Ultimately, he got his wish and was acquired by the Lakers.

We will never really know what other teams were really intrigued by James but Paul said numerous squads were thinking of signing him.

They may have wanted him but it seems he was always destined to be a Laker.
