The Los Angeles Lakers wanted to celebrate on Monday night but that didn’t end up happening.

The team raised its latest banner to the Crypto.com Arena rafters, this time for their victory in the In-Season Tournament.

A lot of people gave them a hard time for creating this banner and they ridiculed the Lakers as they lost their second straight game on Monday, this time against the New York Knicks.

On “Undisputed,” Richard Sherman tore into the Lakers for hanging the In-Season banner from the arena’s rafters.

“Lakers only raise championship banners. The great Kobe Bean Bryant is rolling over in his grave,” Sherman stated.

Sherman said that Bryant would be furious with his team if he were alive today.

The only banners that should be hoisted are those earned after a Finals win and the only jerseys that should be retired are those that belong to Hall of Famers, according to Sherman.

The idea of making a banner for the In-Season Tournament already received enough pushback but even more people criticized it on Monday night as the Lakers lost yet another game.

To them, it felt silly and bizarre to be celebrating a team that has gone 1-3 since winning the tournament.

Even if the Lakers won on Monday, some people would still be against the concept of an In-Season banner.

But their loss just creates an even bigger conversation about this subject.

No one on the Lakers would argue that the In-Season Tournament is more important than a championship but they feel it’s right to memorialize their recent victory.

They are hoping to secure some wins soon so they can look up to this new banner with pride.
