The San Francisco 49ers may not only be the best all-around team in the NFL right now, but the team has two legitimate candidates for the NFL MVP award, with star quarterback Brock Purdy and running back Christian McCaffrey arguably both in the running for the regular-season award.
On Sunday, the two 49ers stars put on a show against the division-rival Arizona Cardinals, with Purdy passing for four touchdowns and McCaffrey racking up three total touchdowns (one rushing, two receiving).
After these stellar performances by both players, the NFL MVP picture started to shape up a bit more, with Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys seemingly falling out of the race due to a poor performance against the Buffalo Bills.
With the NFL MVP award traditionally going to a quarterback, Purdy obviously has the edge in the race for the regular-season award, but even he thinks McCaffrey deserves it and so does former player-turned-analyst Richard Sherman, via The Volume.

The current favorites for the award are Purdy and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, but that will surely change when the 49ers and Ravens go head-to-head on Christmas Day.
If McCaffrey can put on a show during the final three games of the regular season, he may be able to make his case for the regular-season award, but he’ll likely need some strong performances to make a statement.
