The Seattle Seahawks were expected to be bad for a very long time once they parted ways with Russell Wilson.

Instead, Geno Smith came out of the left field to become one of the most surprising quarterbacks in the game, even posting MVP-caliber numbers at one point.

The Seahawks later signed him to a very lucrative deal, and while they weren’t able to keep that momentum going in Pete Carroll’s final season in charge of the team, they might be poised for a bounce-back year this time.

At least, that’s how former Seahawks star Richard Sherman feels.

Talking on his podcast, the former Super Bowl champion stated that he believes that the Seahawks are built very well right now.

He stated that if the Seahawks manage to keep Smith out of harm’s way, he can be as good as anybody in the league.

So, now that they will have both starting tackles back to full strength, he expects them to fare much better offensively, especially considering they have a dynamic running back in Kenneth Walker and very talented wide receivers like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett.

More than that, Sherman believes that new head coach Mike Macdonald has given them their defensive identity and pride back.

He thinks that had been kind of lost in Seattle over the past couple of years, but he’s seeing second and third-stringers taking pride in being a defensive team, and that’s why he firmly believes they’re going to be contenders again in 2024.
