The Detroit Tigers are still a couple of years away from being a postseason contender.
However, their young stars are ready to make an impact and begin the next era of Tigers baseball.
One of those stars is outfielder Riley Greene, who made his presence felt in Houston on Monday night with a home run off of Houston Astros reliever Bryan Abreu.
In the top of the seventh inning, the former top prospect hit one all the way up near the train tracks at Minute Maid Park to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead.
On Twitter, MLB posted a video of Greene’s go-ahead blast.

It may not have been quite where Albert Pujols‘ home run off of Brad Lidge landed all those years ago.
But it was still hit pretty high and quite far.
It was a wild game in Houston on Monday night as the Tigers and Astros traded punches.
Ultimately, the Tigers came out on top by a final of 7-6 in 11 innings, earning their first win of the season after being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend.
Greene’s home run certainly played a big role in the Tigers victory.
It was his first homer of the season.
The 22-year-old is one of many young stars that have fans in Detroit looking forward to the future and what may be in store for the team.
The Tigers will try for a series win on Tuesday night as they send right-hander Matt Manning to the mound against Astros ace Framber Valdez.
