The 2023 NFL season officially came to an end for the New England Patriots on Sunday, with legendary head coach Bill Belichick losing what could potentially be his last game with the organization, as the arch-rival New York Jets made it look easy in Week 18, 17-3.
With the season now over for the Patriots, the attention turns to Belichick and his immediate future, whether it’s with the storied franchise or if he’ll move on to another franchise, with plenty of interest expected in his services.
With all signs pointing to the Patriots and Belichick parting ways, the team will have the tall task of replacing him during the NFL offseason, with Mike Vrabel of the Tennessee Titans being a potential target, according to Rob Gronkowski of FOX Sports via FOX Sports: NFL.
“There’s only a lot of smoke because of the New England Patriots situation, and there will be fire if Coach Belichick is gone,” Gronkowski said. “Mr. Kraft will get on the phone with the Tennessee Titans organization and figure out a way to get Mike Vrabel to be the head coach of the New England Patriots. It fits Mr. Kraft’s mold. He’s very experienced with the organization. He was a Patriot legend when he was a player, so we will see what happens. Only time will tell.”

With the Patriots needing to trade for Vrabel, it makes the situation that much more complicated, but he’d be an ideal fit for New England, as he’s one of the few Belichick former players who have made the transition to coaching and been successful.
It’ll be interesting to see how things shake out for the Patriots, but for the time being, it will be a waiting game to see what happens with Belichick, as the team has yet to make an announcement on what the franchise intends to do moving forward.
