The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2024 NBA Draft with a lot of questions surrounding their roster.
Fans and analysts were interested to see who they would take in the first round of the draft but were more interested in what the team would do in the second round.
There were rumors of the team being interested in Bronny James, but fans were unsure if they would make the move to draft him.
When the time came for the Lakers to pick in the second round, Bronny ended up being their selection, a choice that has since been met with equal parts controversy and praise.
Rob Pelinka, the Vice President and General Manager of the Lakers, recently appeared on Spectrum SportsNet, outlining some of the reasons the team took Bronny.
“Bronny is first and foremost a person of high character. And second, he’s a young man that works incredibly hard… He had a great draft workout with us where he displayed those qualities,” Pelinka said.

One of the critiques of Bronny joining the Lakers was that the team only picked him because his father plays for the team.
This could have been a determining factor, but Pelinka remains adamant that Bronny’s talent is what won them over.
At the end of the day, the NBA is a business, and that business exists to try and put the best team together to win the most titles.
