As anyone who has seen the new HBO Hard Knocks show featuring the Chicago Bears, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is talented.
He’s not without issues, as fans of the show witnessed in the first episode, but Williams is clearly a ready-made NFL quarterback.
The rookie did not play in the Hall of Fame Game last week but took the field for the Bears’ preseason tilt against Buffalo on Saturday.
Former NFL signal-caller, and current media talking head, Robert Griffin III, took to Twitter and dissected one of Williams’ highlight reel plays from the game.

During the clip, Griffin explained what Williams was doing on the field to make a 40-yard completed pass.
After taking the snap, Williams froze the defense with a good fake handoff.
Then, the quarterback rolled to the right side of the field as a Bills defender locked in.
When the defender got within five yards of Williams, he made a pump fake to make the defender put a hand up and run horizontally instead of at Williams.
Finally, although he threw off his back foot, Williams used his arm strength to zing a pass into the arms of a Bears receiver, bringing an enthusiastic sound effect from Griffin.
“…a 40 YARD FROZEN ROPE without getting downhill to his target,” gushed Griffin.
Williams led two Chicago drives during the contest and ended his afternoon with 95 passing yards on four of seven completions and also added 13 rushing yards.
The rookie from USC is the presumptive starter for a Bears team that went 7-10 last year and hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2020.
