The Cincinnati Bengals lost their Week 1 matchup to the Cleveland Browns after an uncharacteristic performance by Joe Burrow.

Burrow finished this game with just 82 passing yards, the fewest in a single game in his career.

After this game, many fans likely expected Burrow to receive criticism from pundits across the league.

While he has received some criticism, Robert Griffin III recently told Rich Eisen a potential reason for a lack of Burrow conversation.

“Joe Burrow has avoided a lot of criticism because of how bad Josh Allen played,” Griffin said.

Allen and the Buffalo Bills lost their first game of the year in devasting fashion to the New York Jets, even without Aaron Rodgers.

A large reason for this loss was Allen’s play, who finished the game with three interceptions and just one touchdown.

This too, was a statistical anomaly for Allen, who is widely viewed as one of the AFC’s top young quarterbacks.

Burrow, Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Justin Herbert all lost in Week 1, a surprising mark given their play in 2022.

Griffin showed slight concern for Burrow and Allen in particular, worrying about what this means for both quarterbacks in the weeks to come.

The Bengals face the Baltimore Ravens this week, a tough divisional opponent.

Burrow showed some rust in his first game of the year, likely due to a lack of practice time after his injury.

He’d like to get the Bengals back on track, as starting the year with an 0-2 record is less than ideal for a team itching to make it back to the Super Bowl.
