For years, the Boston Celtics have relied on Jayson Tatum, and that has worked out until it doesn’t.

Tatum is clearly one of the best players in the game.

He has the tools to be an elite contributor on both ends of the floor, and his numbers have been MVP-caliber for years.

However, he always seems to disappear when it matters the most, and it was pretty close to happening again in Game 1 vs. the Indiana Pacers.

That’s why former NFL QB Robert Griffin III wanted to give him his flowers, stating that he showed that he was ‘him’ with the way he bounced back and saved the day after he almost blew the game.

Tatum had a head-scratching turnover late in the game, and that was after going just 2-for-8 in the fourth quarter with some very bad misses.

The bulk of his production came when his team was on top, and Joe Mazzulla’s team allowed a double-digit lead to slip right through their fingers, all while Tatum barely asked for the ball.

Then, he had two huge plays in overtime, an and-one and a step-back three-pointer to put the game out of reach.

At the end of the day, anybody can make mistakes, and this loss would’ve been pinned on him, so props to him for righting his wrong and making sure to avoid more public scrutiny.
