The 2024 NFL season is still about a week away, though that hasn’t stopped fans from getting their fill of football this past weekend as college football returned.

The huge slate of games this past weekend turned up some fun and exciting matchups, though one of the most-viewed games was between North Dakota State and Colorado.

The Buffaloes have gotten a lot of attention the past couple of years since head coach Deion Sanders took over the program, and his second season is expected to draw plenty of eyes and scrutiny along the way.

Colorado fell behind early, but managed to come back and win the game 31-26 to start off the new season 1-0.

It was a thrilling game and former NFL players like Robert Griffin III were surely watching what Sanders and his team would do.

The game was aired on ESPN and ended up being one of its most-viewed openers ever, prompting Griffin to take a jab at ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum via his personal X account.

“Apparently Colorado is relevant,” Griffin tweeted.

Finebaum is well-known for his insight on college football, but has not been afraid to criticize Sanders throughout his time coaching.

It seems that Griffin took exception to Finebaum dragging Sanders’ name and got in a bit of a comeback after it was announced how many viewers the Buffaloes drew in their opener.

For better or for worse, Sanders will always attract attention though that won’t deter him from trying to lead his team to the college playoffs.
