One of the more underrated offseason signings in the NFL this year was that of the Jets signing big-play wide receiver Mike Williams.
However, as training camp is now underway and the first preseason game inches closer for the Jets, Williams (torn ACL) has not practiced yet.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh was recently asked if he had an update on when Williams might be ready to practice.
“We’ll see. He’s got a couple of doctors visits coming up but right now he’s just progressing,” Saleh said in front of the New York media.

‘We’ll see,’ Saleh said when asked how far away he is. ‘I know he’s got a couple of doctors visits coming up but right now he’s just progressing.’

If this Jets offense could get a healthy Mike Williams, the rest of the league may want to look out.
While with the Los Angeles Chargers at the beginning of his career for seven years, the former national champion put up multiple 1,000-yard seasons.
His most impressive 1,000-yard season came in 2019 when he put up 1,001 yards on just 49 receptions (20.4 YPC; led NFL).
At 6-4 and weight close to 220 pounds, Williams is unlike any other receiver quarterback Aaron Rodgers has ever played with because of his size and wingspan.
If Williams can stay healthy and if Rodgers is spinning the ball like his old MVP self, Gang Green could be a very dangerous out as the season moves along.
Having fellow wide receiver Garrett Wilson (back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons) and running back Breece Hall (1,500+ scrimmage yards last season) in the fold certainly helps too.
Time will tell to see if Williams’ knee is feeling good enough to the point where he can get some practice reps in before the season starts.
