It has been nothing but good news for the New York Jets over the last few months as the team has gone from a talented squad on both sides of the football to a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the AFC.
Although the additions of stars Aaron Rodgers and Dalvin Cook have been massive steps in the right direction for the Jets, the team took a blow to its receiving corps on Wednesday.
According to a post on his personal Instagram account, veteran wide receiver Corey Davis has chosen to step away from football for the time being or possibly for good.
Davis didn’t go into detail about why he’s stepping away from the game, but the Jets will have to adjust regardless.
On Wednesday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh shared his reaction to Davis choosing to step away from the NFL, saying the following, via Jets Videos on Twitter.
“My heart goes out to him and his family”

Saleh and the team are going with a supportive approach to Davis suddenly deciding to step away from the game only a couple of weeks ahead of the start of the 2023 NFL season.
With Davis’ post being a bit vague in terms of whether he’s retiring or taking some time for himself, Saleh made it clear that the door is always open for the 28-year-old veteran wide receiver.
Although the loss of Davis is a hit to the passing game in New York, the Jets still have a solid group of wide receivers to work with, including Garrett Wilson, Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Mecole Hardman.
