The New York Jets are hoping to put a forgettable 2023 NFL season behind this year, as they were able to make some solid additions to the squad on both sides of the football while also getting superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers back healthy and ready to contribute under center come Week 1 next month.
Along with Rodgers committing to stay in New York and return to the field after a devastating Achilles injury last season, the Jets were able to add a key piece to the defense, with the team pulling off a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to bring in star linebacker Haason Reddick.
Unfortunately for the Jets, things haven’t gone well with Reddick since the team acquired him, as he wants a contract extension and hasn’t been able to see eye-to-eye with his new team on a deal, which has resulted in a holdout during training camp and now a trade request has been issued by the newcomer.
Earlier this week, Jets general manager Joe Douglas let it be known that the team will not grant Reddick’s request to be traded, making this situation that much more complicated for the team moving forward, with the star player disgruntled before he even plays a down for the franchise.
On Tuesday, head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media and addressed the situation with Reddick, which he admits is out of his control via Jets Videos.
“It’s not frustrating because I don’t have control over it,” Saleh said.

Obviously, this is not an ideal situation for the Jets or Reddick, as both sides are currently in limbo, and there is no telling how this will all pan out.
The last thing the Jets want heading into the 2024 campaign is an off-the-field distraction, so the sooner they resolve this situation, the better.
