The 2023 NFL season went horribly wrong for the New York Jets after quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a season-ending Achilles injury, which completely derailed things offensively, resulting in the team going on to win only seven games with Zach Wilson and others under center.
During the offseason, the Jets made a point of upgrading on both sides of the football, but the emphasis was clearly on improving the offense and putting more talent around Rodgers to give the four-time NFL MVP the best chance of being successful when healthy.
One of the most significant moves was bringing in veteran wide receiver Mike Williams, who played the first seven seasons of his NFL career for the Los Angeles Chargers, making a name for himself catching passes from quarterback Justin Herbert.
However, Williams had to work his way back from a season-ending ACL injury he suffered in Week 3 of last season, but according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh, he’s made good progress and will be available for Week 1 when the team goes on the road to take on the San Francisco 49ers on “Monday Night Football.”
“We’re gonna be very smart with how we use him, but he’s gonna be plenty available to make his mark felt,” Saleh said, via Jets Videos.

Williams should give the Jets a considerable boost offensively, as he will make a potentially dynamic wide receiver duo with Garrett Wilson, who is the No. 1 option in the passing game.
Time will tell if Williams can be a game-changer for the Jets, but he does make them more dangerous on paper moving forward.
