Not so long ago, the Houston Rockets were one of the strongest contenders in the Western Conference.

James Harden’s departure set them back, but they’ve done an outstanding job of stacking up talent with the assets they got in return for their superstar.

Coach Ime Udoka also helped them take a big leap forward last season.

Now, Udoka and the front office are reportedly keen on taking this team back to the playoffs right away.

With that in mind, ESPN insider Jonathan Givony revealed that they’re going to be very aggressive in their pursuit of talent in the offseason (via NBA Central).

The Houston Rockets could target Kevin Durant and Jimmy Butler, per @DraftExpress

As a matter of fact, they could go after the likes of Kevin Durant or Jimmy Butler.

Per the report, they coulda also target Mikal Bridges and Brandon Ingram.

They will also reportedly go after guys like Brook Lopez and Marcus Smart.

Going after Durant would make sense for them, and that might give the Phoenix Suns the best chance to retool their roster and build around Devin Booker.

As for Butler, he’s rumored to be on his way out of Miami, as Pat Riley has been hesitant to give him a max contract extension and he’s not getting any younger.

The Rockets aren’t ready to go all the way and compete for an NBA championship right now.

But clearly, they’re not going to rest on their laurels and just wait around; they want to make things happen.
